Woodlands residents celebrate lifelong love at anniversary event

February 18, 2016

GREENVILLE, SC – With half of today’s marriages ending in divorce, the secret to love that lasts can be difficult to discover. However, residents at The Woodlands at Furman seem to have the answer, as 26 resident couples will celebrate 60 or more years of marriage in 2016.

The Woodlands is honoring these couples with a celebration of lifelong love on Thursday, February 18. Nine of the 26 couples being celebrated were married in 1956, making 2016 their diamond anniversary. Each couple will be individually recognized with an anniversary gift.

The celebration will take place at 4 p.m. on Thursday, February 18 at the Woodlands at Furman campus, located at 1500 Trailhead Court in Greenville. Family and friends of the couples have been invited to attend.

“We wanted to honor our couples’ love as a community,” said Andrea Payment, Lifestyle Director. “The commitment that it takes to make 60 years of marriage work is rare, and we want these individuals to know how special their love is.”
