Habitat dedicates house from the 2015 CEO Build

July 13, 2015

GREENVILLE, SC – Diane Kilgore moved into her home today – a home constructed by the hands of Upstate business leaders.

“I want to thank God for making this day possible,” she said.

The 2015 Habitat for Humanity of Greenville County CEO Build included representatives of 20 companies who worked to build the house in the Abigail Springs subdivision, said Monroe Free, Habitat Greenville president.

Participants were Jody Gallagher, AFL Global; Bob Morris, Community Foundation of Greenville; John Boyanoski, Complete Public Relations; Joe Erwin, Erwin-Penland; Chuck Hinton, Ethox Chemicals; John Uprichard, Find Great People; James Brown, Fluor Corporation; Ben Haskew, Greenville Chamber of Commerce; David Doser, Greenville County Redevelopment Authority; Dr. Keith Miller, Greenville Technical College; Jeff Beard, Heat Transfer; D.J. Rama, JHM Hotels; Don Erickson, Lockheed Martin; Delisa English, The Blood Connection; Seabrook Marchant, The Marchant Company; Ted Hendry, United Way of Greenville County; Steve Wetmore, Wal-Mart Distribution Center; Mike Riordan, President & CEO, Greenville Health System; David Bereskin, CEO, Greenville Water; Steve Harkins, President & CEO, SC Telco.

“We’ve seen leadership at work,” Free said.

Dick Wilkerson, the retired chairman of Michelin North America and the CEO Build chairman, said people like Kilgore are the bedrock of Habitat houses because they are dedicated to the home. The challenge comes in finding people to support that vision of homeownership by helping to build.

“Habitat takes a chance on the rest of us,” he said.

Uprichard said this is the second year his company, Find Great People, took park in the event. He said the CEO Build helps build team work and makes people work outside their comfort zones.

“It feels more like team building than community service,” he said.
