Changes to Parks & Recreation rental fees scheduled for October 1

September 4, 2018

The City of Greenville’s Parks & Recreation Department will implement a new rental fee schedule and offer additional rental options beginning October 1. The City’s rental portfolio includes shelters, fields, gardens, tennis and volleyball courts and amphitheaters, as well as facilities such as community centers and the River Lodge in Falls Park.

As part of the changes, the City will now offer half-day shelter rentals (9 a.m. – 1 p.m. or 3 p.m. – 7 p.m.) in Cleveland, Falls, Gower, Legacy, McPherson, North Main, Timmons and Holmes Parks from April 1 to September 30. Half-day rentals will also be available for the Rock Quarry Garden. Additionally, the public will now be able to rent Legacy Park, the ballfield at Holmes Park and open green space in Cleveland Park and on Welborn Street.

In conjunction with the fee changes, the City will also begin utilizing CivicRec, a user-friendly cloud-based parks and recreation software, for online rentals. A program registration component of the new portal, located at https://rec.greenvillesc.gov, went live in early August and the online rental component will go live on October 1.

This will be the first time the City has increased its rental fees for park shelters and event space since 2014.
