United Community Bank gives back to Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Carolinas

Donation facilitated through sales of gloves and socks at United Community Bank Ice on Main

United Community Bank has donated $2,185 to Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Carolinas’ “Adopt-A-Room” program, which provides families with a place to stay during their child’s hospital treatment. Because the funds for the donation resulted from the sales of gloves and socks through United’s sponsorship of Ice on Main’s seventh season, the room is named in honor of the rink. United Community Bank celebrated its fifth consecutive year as title sponsor during the rink’s 2017-2018 season and continued this special tradition of donating the items to be sold throughout the season.

“It’s important to our United family to serve the community that gives so much to us,” said Michelle Seaver, President of United Community Bank Greenville County. “Through this initiative, we are proud to not only help provide families with a fun activity during the winter, but also give back to an important community organization. We are grateful to the skaters for purchasing gloves and socks throughout the season. Because of their support we are thrilled to be able to adopt a room for a full year.”

The Adopt-A-Room program presents the opportunity for donors to sponsor a specific guest room in the Ronald McDonald House. Adopting a room provides the ability to maintain a room throughout the year, from painting, to fixtures, to bedding, to televisions—all the comforts of home. Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Carolinas’ rooms provide a respite for the families of the House with average night stays of about 11 nights. The Ronald McDonald House relieves the stress and provides a home-away-from-home for families to rest their heads at night. It is a place where a family can focus on their critically ill child in a quality environment, instead of worrying about the expenses and logistical burdens of where to stay during treatment.
