February 1, 2017

Ann Wright begins work today as vice president for advancement with the Greenville Tech Foundation. Ann has spent the last three decades with the American Red Cross. She started as an assistant chapter manager and director of emergency services, became executive director for the Upstate, and since 2014, has served as chief operating officer for the South Carolina region as well as executive director for the Upstate.

“Ann’s experiences have prepared her well to lead the Greenville Tech Foundation,” said Dr. Keith Miller, president of Greenville Technical College. “She brings a broad background in fundraising, volunteer leadership, collaboration, and more to a position that is critical in helping students overcome financial barriers and gain a life-changing college education.”

Wright earned a bachelor’s degree in social work at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. With the Red Cross since 1984, she was instrumental in beginning the South Carolina chapter’s HIV/AIDS education program. She led a $2.7 million capital campaign to renovate and expand Red Cross headquarters in Greenville and developed a shared donor database management program that has been adopted nationwide.

Past-president of the Leadership Greenville Alumni Association, she has been active with the Greenville Professional Women’s Forum, the Non-Profit Alliance, and the South Carolina Association of Non-Profit Organizations. She has received a Distinguished Leadership Award from the National Association for Community Leadership and a Women Making History award for Health and Public Service from the Greenville Cultural Exchange Center.

“It is an honor and a pleasure to join Greenville Technical College and the Greenville Tech Foundation,” said Wright.  “I look forward to building on the hard work of those who have served before. By continuing to grow the resources and awareness of the Greenville Tech Foundation, we help students become part of the growing economy and skilled workforce in this area while we also benefit our community.”
