Greenville Health System Swamp Rabbit Hoppenings

September 6, 2016

Volunteer to help do trail work on the GHS Swamp Rabbit Trail – Hampton Station / West Washington Street –  October 13thCome help spruce up the GHS SRT at the West Washington St. and Hampton Avenue area by clearing out intersection sightlines, landscaping, and maybe even working on a new trail corridor. Avison Young is sponsoring the event with FREE lunch for volunteers! It is a weekday, but Greenville County Schools are on holiday, so consider this an opportunity to instill some local outdoor stewardship in the kids, or just a good day to play hooky. Register to volunteer here.

Cyclo-cross racing at the Travelers Rest Farmers Market – Bring your cowbells and shopping bags to Trailblazer Park on September 10th for the first CX race of the season. Put on by our friends at SmartStartEvents be a spectator or a racer. Kids race free. And if you see Brian Hill from SmartStartEvents thank him for nearly single-handedly building the trails you’ll enjoy before buying local honey and okra. Details and registration here.

Voice your opinion about traffic – Don’t complain, explain. Put the effort in to help make a change. Show up at the Long-range Transportation Plan (LRTP) input meeting. This plan covers the three county area (Greenville, Pickens & Anderson) so many voices are needed to steer (pun intended) this process. And of course transportation includes the GHS Swamp Rabbit Trail and future trail expansion networks. 30,000 trips to work are logged each year on the GHS Swamp Rabbit already, wouldn’t it be great to know that because you showed onSeptember 7, 2016 from 6pm-8pm to the TD Convention Center and gave your two cents that the new LRTP includes your request for a trail connection to Marietta, to Mauldin, to Simpsonville, to Greer… So show up or shut-up about traffic. We are even serving food and if you register you could win free stuff. Can’t make it physically?
