ReWa Showcases Newest Water Resource Recovery Facility in Recent Tour

GREENVILLE, SC – June 6, 2013 – Renewable Water Resources (ReWa) hosted a tour of their newest facility, Piedmont Regional Water Resource Recovery Facility, for the general public on June 1^st.  Piedmont Regional utilizes state-of-the art technology and features to increase efficiency, capacity, and safety for the environment and community.

With a permitted capacity of 4.0 million gallons per day, Piedmont Regional supports growth and economic development in the Piedmont and Powdersville areas for years to come. The Piedmont Regional Facility uses the most advanced technologies in the water treatment process to produce a high class effluent for water reuse operations on site. Additionally, Piedmont Regional is the largest facility in South Carolina, as well as the first ReWa facility to use the membrane bioreactor (MBR) technology. This technology reduces the number of steps in conventional treatment, specifically eliminating the need for clarifiers and sand filters. This, in turn, makes the treatment process more efficient and cost-effective, while releasing the cleanest effluent into local waterways.

Piedmont Regional lies within the service area of ReWa and extends into parts of Anderson County, supporting the collection service providers of Anderson County Wastewater Management, Gantt Fire Sewer & Police District and Metropolitan Sewer Subdistrict.

ReWa regularly offers facility tours as part of its public education program. The tours are designed to increase community awareness about ReWa’s services and how the community can participate in protecting our area’s valuable aquatic resources. Tours are provided for individuals and local groups and topics can be tailored to fit the need of the group.
