Former Capitol Hill Staffer and Entrepreneur Henri' Thompson to Announce Candidacy for South Carolina Senate

GREENVILLE, SC – May 17, 2012 – Henri’ Thompson, an entrepreneur and community servant, will officially launch his candidacy for the South Carolina Senate District 12 seat at two events on Tuesday, May 22nd. The district, located in Spartanburg and Greenville counties, is home to BMW Manufacturing Co., LLC., Michelin North America and other major companies and institutions. The district has the largest per capita international investment in the country according to the New York Times.

The Henri’ Thompson for South Carolina Senate campaign is expected to focus on education, the economy and supporting small businesses in the state.  

The son of a machinist and secretary, Henri’ learned the values of hard work, sacrifice and family from his parents. He graduated as the student body president at James F. Byrnes High School in Duncan, SC  and with 12 years perfect attendance from the South Carolina Public School System.

Henri’ worked as a pizza delivery driver to help pay his college tuition and was a community organizer before completing his graduate degree at Johns Hopkins University.

Henri’ helped make neighborhoods and communities stronger as the associate director of community affairs at The Johns Hopkins Hospital, as a deputy director of external affairs with the State of Maryland and as a member of the leadership staff on Capitol Hill in Washington to former House Majority Whip Congressman James E. Clyburn (D-SC).
