National Purchasing Institute Selects ReWa as only SC Government Agency to Receive Procurement Award

GREENVILLE, SC – September 29, 2011 – Denitsa Terzieva-McGuirt, Purchasing Manager for Renewable Water Resources (ReWa), has been awarded the prestigious 16th Annual Achievement of Excellence in Procurement Award (AEP) for 2011 from the National Purchasing Institute (NPI). ReWa is a first-time recipient of the AEP Award, and the only government agency in the state of South Carolina to receive the award.

The award recognizes organizational excellence in procurement by measuring innovation, professionalism, e-procurement, productivity and leadership attributes of the procurement function. AEP awardees obtain a high score on a rating of standardized criteria. For 2011, there were 177 successful applicants, including 41 counties, 57 cities, 20 higher education agencies, 17 school districts, 26 special districts, and 16 state agencies.
ReWa’s e-procurement system and team leadership, along with a user-friendly website were key factors in being selected for the award. ReWa’s website provides transparency and current information on ongoing solicitations as well as a comprehensive roadmap on “How to do business with ReWa”, online vendor registration and online surplus disposal utilizing GovDeals. ReWa purchasing staff professionalism contributed equally – Stephanie Selman and Mari Weast – ReWa Purchasing Agents, are highly trained professionals with experience in the purchasing arena; in addition Terzieva‐McGuirt, ReWa’s Purchasing Manager, is CPIM and CPM certified and proud to be involved with the local Greenville Industrial Crescent APICS Chapter. ReWa Purchasing Department productivity was also recognized for the implementation of an electronic requisitioning/purchase order software with in-built routings and approvals, and the use of multi-year contracts that help improve efficiency.
National Purchasing Institute (NPI)
NPI is the Public Sector Affiliate of the Institute for Supply Management formerly known as the National Association of Purchasing Management. NPI exists to promote the achievement of excellence in governmental and institutional procurement through education, certification, professional development and networking of its membership.
Renewable Water Resources (ReWa)
