ReWa Recognizes Industry for Pollution Prevention Efforts

GREENVILLE, SC – February 1, 2011 – In order to encourage the abatement of pollution through prevention, Renewable Water Resources (ReWa) established an annual Pollution Prevention (P2) Recognition Program. Many industries on the ReWa system have pursued innovative ways of preventing pollution through waste minimization, water conservation, recycling, product reformulation, toxic materials substitution, etc.

KS Gleitlager USA, Inc. was selected as the 2010 P2 award recipient. The ReWa selection committee wanted to recognize the engine components production company for:

• Installing higher efficiency plating equipment and forming press in-line treatment units resulting in chemical and water usage reductions as well as waste disposal reductions;
• Installing a recycling filter system on a production line allowing for heavy metal discharges to be significantly reduced at the source while increasing water reuse; and
• Implementing a materials tracking system indexed to production allowing for a highly focused management overview of chemical and waste usage.

ReWa’s Pretreatment Manager and P2 Award Coordinator William Armes presented the award at the Greater Greenville Chamber of Commerce Environmental Issues Committee meeting. Selection Committee for the 2010 P2 Program included:
