Six nonprofit organizations benefit from annual event

GREENVILLE, SC – January 26, 2011 – St. Francis Fall for Greenville board members and event partners today presented $35,000 to six nonprofit organizations from the local community and recognized the efforts of those organizations who also committed substantial volunteer hours over the course of the three-day event. All funds donated came from the 2010 St. Francis Fall for Greenville held last October.

Local charities receiving grants from St. Francis Fall for Greenville included:

  • Greenville Rape Crisis & Child Abuse Center – $5,000 plus $2,500 bonus
  • Hands on Greenville – $5,000 plus $2,500 bonus
  • Harvest Hope Food Bank – $5,000
  • Loaves and Fishes – $5,000
  • Project Host – $5,000
  • St. Francis Foundation – $5,000

This year, the festival recognized the Greenville Rape Crisis & Child Abuse Center and Hands on Greenville with a bonus for their above and beyond efforts in providing volunteer support over the festival weekend. According to 2010 Fall for Greenville Board President Judy Balsizer, the additional donations were possible as a result of the event generating more than last year. “We are thrilled to share the success of last year’s event with such worthy nonprofit organizations that strive to make meaningful and substantial changes in our community,” said Balsizer.

This year’s festival marks the 30th anniversary of St. Francis Fall for Greenville and is scheduled for October 14-16, 2011.
