Geocaching Class Begins October 19 at Tri-County’s Anderson Campus

ANDERSON – October 19, 2010 – Geocaching, a worldwide, high-tech treasure hunt using Global Positioning System (GPS) receivers and the Internet, is the hottest new sport and a great game that the entire family can enjoy. Tri-County Technical College will offer Geocaching: The Art of Treasure Hunting October 19 – 26 on Tuesdays from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. at the Anderson Campus and Saturday, November 6, from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Anderson Civic Center. The cost is $55.
The Geocaching class will teach participants how to use a GPS receiver and how to successfully participate in the game. You don’t have to bring a GPS receiver because one will be provided for the class. Leigh Colombo, of Williamston, says the class is a great opportunity for anyone interested in using a GPS receiver and trying an exciting new hobby.
My son took the Geocaching class this summer and loved it, said Colombo. He got our whole family excited about it, too. Once we went out on our first exploration, we put it on our Facebook page and then family in other states thought it sounded great, went out to buy a GPS, and started geocaching, too. It is a wonderful activity for our family to do together – no matter what the age. It’s free (except for the gas and GPS) and you can even do it on vacation anywhere in the world.
