The COMET launches The COMET On The GO! with Lyft

January 11, 2019

The COMET is helping you go around the Columbia Metropolitan Area easily!  Effective January 1, 2019, The COMET is subsidizing up to $5.00 for ridesharing trips that start and end in The COMET fixed-route service area on Lyft.  The following two programs, one aimed at increasing Fresh Food Access and the other aimed at improving Late Night Mobility are now available:

COMET To The Market with Lyft:

Seven days a week between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m., enter the Lyft promo code COMETMARKET18 into the‘Promos’ tab in your app.  The trip must originate or end at the following fresh food markets: Walmart & Walmart Neighborhood Market, BiLo, Kroger, The Fresh Market, Whole Foods Market, Aldi, Blossom Shop, Food Lion, Gourmet Shoppe, La Estrella Supermarket, Lowe’s Foods, Ole Timey Meat Market, Piggy Wiggly, Publix, Rosewood Market & Deli, Sam’s Club, Costco, Save-A-Lot, State Farmer’s Market, Target, Trader Joes, Earth Fare, Supermercado El Mariachi, Soda City Market (Saturday only).

This program is the first of its kind in the nation and Lyft is proud to be a partner with The COMET to implement this program. COMET To The Market can only be used twice a week (one round trip) per passenger.  Anything over $5.00 is the responsibility of the passenger.  The code must be entered to receive the discount.

“We want The COMET to be known as a mobility agency,” says John C. Andoh, the Executive Director/CEO of The COMET. “We are on a mission to make it easier to access fresh fruits and vegetables especially in communities that do not have grocery stores within a 5-mile radius of their homes.”

“Lyft is proud to partner with The COMET to offer Columbia residents reliable access to fresh groceries in their community. As partners, we aim to reduce the time, cost, and transportation access barriers to fresh food that impacts too many Columbia families.” said Bakari Brock, Senior Director of City Partnerships for Lyft.

COMET @ Night with Lyft:

Lyft is also partnering with the COMET to provide late night transit service, seven days a week between 9 p.m. and 3 a.m. Public transit users can apply the promo code which is available inside of all COMET buses to receive the $5.00 discount off late evening transit rides with Lyft. Anything over $5.00 is the responsibility of the passenger.  The code must be entered to receive the discount.

The COMET On The Go programs are only limited to trips originating or ending as explained above (with the exception of the State Farmer’s Market) in The COMET fixed-route service area as shown in the map below:
