5 Lexington County correctional officers receive national certification

January 24, 2018

Five Lexington County correctional officers have been designated as Certified Correctional Supervisors by the American Correctional Association and Commission on Correctional Certification.

Correctional officers Lori Bailey and James Davenport, and sergeants Eliza Davis, William Holley and Walter Todd completed the requirements to become certified in December.

“This program is designed for individuals at the ‘mid-management’ level who work with staff and offenders in a corrections setting,” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said.

According to Koon, applicants must meet certain requirements and be accepted into the program. Once accepted, applicants will prepare and study for the American Correctional Association Certification Examination.

With the addition of these five, the Lexington County Detention Center has 11 nationally certified correctional professionals.
