St. Matthews woman named December Employee of the Month

January 8, 2018

Vickilyn Smith, a supervisor in the Child Support Financial Services Receipts Unit, was selected as a December Employee of the Month.

Her nomination states Smith’s “relationship with the stake holders in all the 46 SC Counties Family Courts (not to speak of employers and interstate agencies) make it easier to process collections sooner than later. This embodies one of the goals of our Division which is to get child support into the hands of the custodial parent as quickly as possible. Vickilyn understands how important this money is for the children of South Carolina.”

Smith oversees the processing of collections coming from all 46 County Family Courts to the child support system and the recording of their bank deposits on to the book of records. She resolves discrepancies that prevent payments from being processed timely.

She said she is honored to be named an employee of the month and that she “will share the honor with the team because it is definitely a team effort.”

“I love my job because I can ensure that the Custodial Parents receive their child support payments timely so that they will be able to take care of the needs of their minor children,” Smith said. “I enjoy helping people.”

Staff chosen as part of the Employee of the Month Program are awarded with lunch with the State Director along with other honorees, a dedicated parking space, a photo and write up displayed at State Office and a write-up sent to their community newspaper.

Other December winners included: Christi Jeffcoat, program manager with Division of Early Care and Education; Rick Knight, a program coordinator with Adult Protective Services; and Joshua Leo, a child welfare human services coordinator with Greenville County DSS.
