Toys for Tots “Fill The MRAP” campaign a success

December 17, 2017

The annual Toys for Tots “Fill The MRAP” campaign ended on Tuesday, December 12, 2017, after a series of donation events that took place at Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt, Kmart, Target, Walmart, PetSmart, Mellow Mushroom, Poke Bros. and Kay Jewelers.

As in years past, the focus of the Toys for Tots campaign has been to fill the Lexington Police Department Emergency Services Team (E.S.T.) MRAP vehicle with toy donations.  The giving from the Town of Lexington community and businesses was overwhelming and the MRAP was filled several times over with toys which included bicycles, remote control cars, dolls, building blocks, and many other excellent toy gifts.

Along with the generous donations by families who visited officers at the Toys for Tots events, many key business partnerships made this year’s event an even greater success with PetSmart and Kay’s Jewelers donating over 500 stuffed animals and Hawley Lambert USA donating several bicycles.  Gift cards, along with cash donations from Learning Express, Kmart, Target, Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt, Mellow Mushroom and Poke Bros., gave Chief Terrence Green the opportunity to go on several shopping sprees to spend over $2,000 to purchase more toys for the Toys for Tots campaign.

Chief Terrence Green says, “The Lexington Police Department has long supported the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation with our annual toy donation campaign and this year’s campaign was a great success again from the generosity of the Town of Lexington community and local businesses.  Many thanks to you as Christmas morning will be bright for children in need throughout the Midlands.”
