College of Education launches teacher retention program for new educators

December 15, 2017

In an effort to tackle South Carolina’s teacher shortage, the College of Education recently launched a program aimed at increasing teacher retention and success in the classroom by providing three additional years of support to new teachers after graduation. The Carolina Teacher Induction program, or CarolinaTIP, is a bridge between the College of Education’s teacher preparation programs and South Carolina’s schools.

Fifteen recent education graduates are taking part in the program’s inaugural year and will learn how to implement best practices ranging from behavior management to instructional strategies.
