Dominion Energy Carolina Gas Transmission to host Junior Achievement Students for Career Day

November 8, 2017

On November 7th, Dominion Energy Carolina Gas Transmission (DECG) will host fifty 11th and 12th grade students from Columbia High School to highlight career possibilities available at Dominion Energy. While at DECG on Tuesday, students will learn about various career paths available at DECG, including jobs in communications, construction, engineering, operations, project management and finance. Through this Junior Achievement experiential learning opportunity, students are prepared to be entrepreneurial thinkers and encouraged to develop personal strategies to pursue lifelong learning and career opportunities.

Wayne Vermullen, Director of Gas Operations for DECG, said “DECG and the Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation are pleased to continue our partnership with Junior Achievement in South Carolina through an on-campus learning opportunity. At DECG, students will engage and learn from experts in their fields, and explore potential careers in the energy sector that they may not have previously considered. We are thrilled to welcome students from Columbia High School to our campus.”

Casey Pash, President and CEO of Junior Achievement of Greater South Carolina, stated that “It is great to have Dominion Energy partner again this year with JA. As a company they value the need of the future workforce in South Carolina. They understand that many students are not even aware of what careers are available to them, even in their own back yard. By showing students about career opportunities and explaining what is needed to work in each position, students are more equipped to make those decisions as they enter the workforce in the future. JA continues to appreciate those companies, like Dominion Energy, who continue to inspire the future generation to succeed.”
