Virginia College in Columbia announces new, streamlined programs that are faster, more flexible and more affordable than before

October 9, 2017

Education Corporation of America (ECA), parent company of Virginia College in Columbia, introduced new, streamlined programs that are faster, more flexible and more affordable than before. The new programs provide education options for students seeking to transform their lives by obtaining a career-focused education. Classes in the new programs began Sept. 13, 2017 at the campus located at 7201 Two Notch Road.

Students will be able to complete career training in fields such as medical assistant, medical billing and coding, business, networking and other fields in as little as nine to 12 months, and will still be prepared for the same job opportunities as programs that used to take longer. The programs also feature new modular scheduling, which allows students to take one class at a time, one month at a time. Because many programs have been shortened, students will pay less in tuition and will enter the workforce sooner.

Select allied health programs also offer a new, blended learning model which allows many students to spend alternating days on campus and in a digital classroom giving them a flexible schedule and reducing time and money spent commuting to campus.

“We feel that these new programs will provide an improved experience and improved student outcomes at our campus,” says Campus President Shan Pollitt. “Above all, our students come first.”

New or updated program offerings include:

  • Business Administration Associate of Applied Science Degree
  • Business Administration Certificate
  • Medical Assistant Associate of Applied Science Degree
  • Medical Assistant Certificate
  • Medical Billing and Coding Specialist Certificate
  • Medical Office Specialist Certificate
  • Network Support Technician Certificate
  • Pharmacy Technician Certificate
