Locally-owned restaurant to open this Saturday

August 17, 2017

The grill is hot, the produce is fresh. The wait is over. The grand opening for Urban Cookhouse on Devine Street is Saturday, August 19th!

Families in Columbia have a wonderful new option to eat in or carry out a fresh, delicious meal, especially when time is short. Urban Cookhouse combines elements of quick-casual dining with healthy, in-season produce from regional farms. Everything is made from scratch and made-to-order. Nowhere else in Columbia can you experience this kind of unique atmosphere that highlights farm, to fire, to table.

The menu features a variety of fresh salads, wraps, pasta dishes and marinated, wood-fired entrees. The Big Green Egg, using local hickory and lump charcoal, allows the chefs to give you all the flavor and none of the fat! Urban Cookhouse is proud to offer a menu that is not only quick and convenient, but fresh and affordable as well.

This Devine Street restaurant features both indoor and outdoor dining in a casual, friendly environment. Located at 3000 Devine Street, the building is a perfect addition to the large assortment of other locally-owned businesses.

Will Gillespie, owner and president of Urban Cookhouse, is excited to open this location. A Columbia native, Gillespie says, “We could not be happier to welcome our friends and neighbors to the Devine Street location. Devine Street will be our flag ship store and a prototype for future Urban Cookhouses. All new menu items will be tested here. The hours of this restaurant will be extended during special times of the year such as football season. We are very proud that Columbia is home-base for all Urban Cookhouse restaurants.”

Unique to Devine Street, this location will have a drive-up / call-ahead window for those occasions when you want good food, to-go.

There are now 13 Urban Cookhouse restaurants throughout the Southeast, with locations in Birmingham (AL), Charleston (SC), Charlotte (NC), Crestline (AL), Huntsville (AL), Irmo (SC), Montgomery (AL), Nashville (TN), Sandy Springs (GA), and Tuscaloosa (AL).
