Midlands educators to receive $20,000 for school projects

More than 20 Lexington School District Two educators will receive thousands of dollars to support classroom projects and lessons through the Colonial Life Strong Schools Grant program. The recipients will be announced during an Awards Recognition Luncheon on Aug. 11.
Colonial Life’s Strong Schools Grant program supports Lexington Two educators who have innovative and creative ideas for increasing student engagement. Teachers applied to receive grants of up to $1,000 to purchase equipment and resources that support lessons focused on world-class knowledge, work-class skills, and life and career characteristics as outlined in the S.C. Department of Education’s Profile of the S.C. Graduate.
“Many teachers in our communities have great ideas for unique approaches to learning, but sometimes they lack the resources to put their ideas into action,” said Marie McGehee, community relations manager for Colonial Life. “Our hope is these mini-grants to outstanding teachers will help enhance the learning experience to prepare the next generation of our community’s workforce.”
In four years, Colonial Life has funded more than $95,000 for the Strong Schools Grant program.
