Contract awarded to repair Wilson Boulevard in Richland County

July 10, 2017

The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) awarded a repair contract Monday, July 10, 2017, for US 21 (Wilson Boulevard) in Richland County, according to Secretary of Transportation Christy Hall.

“This is good news the community of Blythewood and we look forward to the end result of this process,” Hall said. “We would like to thank the public for being patient while this matter was resolved and our agency is now able to move forward with the repairs.”

This section of US 21 was washed out during the historic 2015 flood with repairs being delayed due to the homeowners’ association decision regarding the dam repair or abandonment.  Once the decision to abandon the dam was reached, the repair work entered a design phase that included restoration of the stream bed that feeds Lake Elizabeth.

This nearly $2 million project includes of road and bridge repairs and stream restoration. The repair project was awarded to Eagle Construction Company of Newberry.

The contract has an April 30, 2018 completion date.
