Holly Smith joins Providence Columbia Medical Associates

July 5, 2017

COLUMBIA, SC – Providence Health announced the addition of Holly Smith, DO, to the Providence Columbia Medical Associates team of primary care providers. Board-certified in internal medicine and nephrology (kidney care), Dr. Smith’s combination of Osteopathic medicine and dietary expertise contribute to her scientifically-based holistic approach to health and wellness.

“I believe the quest for optimal wellness requires a look at the whole person,” says Dr. Smith. “Instead of looking at just the area of the body that hurts, I consider the physical structure of bones and muscles that interact with the area, as well as the chemical compositions in the body and the food used as fuel for those reactions.”

Dr. Smith received her medical degree from the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine after receiving a Bachelors of Science in Dietetics from Michigan State University. She completed her residency in internal medicine, as well as a fellowship in nephrology, at Garden City Hospital in Garden City, Michigan. She is a member of the American Osteopathic Association and the American Society of Nephrology.

Providence Columbia Medical Associates, located at 2750 Laurel Street in Columbia, South Carolina, offers expert diagnosis and treatment for a huge array of illnesses including management of diabetes, hypertension, cholesterol disorders, many blood disorders, osteoporosis, and even emotional disorders such as depression and anxiety.

Internal medicine providers specialize in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of adult diseases. Nephrologists specialize in kidney care and treating diseases of the kidneys.
