Annual Chef’s Competition Benefiting Children’s Home Takes Place April 27

Help Palmetto Place celebrate 40 years of serving more than 7,000 children and teens who have called this house a home at its annual spring fundraiser, “Sweet & Savory.”

Sweet & Savory 2017 (1)

This chef’s competition brings together the Midland’s top culinary masters who compete for the title of best sweet and savory dishes.

In addition to some of the best food you can find in one place, “Sweet & Savory” will feature a signature drink by Topper’s Rhum, live music and one-of-a-kind auction items.

The event is from 6-9 p.m. on Thursday, April 27, in the planetarium lobby of the South Carolina State Museum. Tickets are $40 each, or two for $75, and can be purchased before the event or at the door.

Funds raised at “Sweet & Savory” will provide programs for homeless teens and services for children of all ages who have been abused or neglected.

Palmetto Place

Since April of 1977, Palmetto Place has been a home for children and teens who are experiencing crisis. We provide a safe, loving environment where children who have been abused or neglected can heal from the wounds of their trauma. We prepare teens to live independently and help them reach self-sufficiency. In 2016, we expanded our shelter from one house with 20 beds to two houses with more than 50 beds. At Palmetto Place we help children succeed, their grades improve and their behaviors stabilize. Here, the state’s most vulnerable children and teens are home.
