EdVenture executive Louis Fawcett named Outstanding Fundraising Executive

September 22, 2016

COLUMBIA, SC – EdVenture’s Senior Vice President of Principal Gifts, Louis Fawcett will be recognized as the Outstanding Fundraising Executive by the S.C. Central Carolina Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals. The association’s 26th Annual National Philanthropy Day will be held on October 27 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Columbia Marriott. The annual award honors Mr. Fawcett’s achievements throughout his career, but especially in the philanthropic community in the Midlands. He was nominated by Nikki Williams, Executive Vice President at EdVenture.

Louis Fawcett has worked to raise over $14 million in major gifts for three organizations during the past twelve years. Prior to joining the Edventure team, he raised support for orphans and school children in China, Russia, Ethiopia and Haiti. Fawcett led the $1 million capital campaign to build Acacia Village in Ethiopia – a children’s home for 200 orphans.  At EdVenture, Louis has raised money to support EdVenture’s expanded mission throughout South Carolina.

Mr. Fawcett is the President-Elect of the Central SC Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.

“As a children’s museum that focuses on the whole child and the family system, we listen to our communities and hear the challenges that are faced. Education and health are two focal points for us as an institution. We are not just a children’s museum or an education institution. We are a human services organization that believes that without a healthy beginning and a solid foundation of educational opportunities, we will continue the cycle,” said Ms. Williams.

“Good fundraisers talk to potential supporters about what a nonprofit does and then ask them to make gifts to help.  Great fundraisers listen – both to those served as well as those who want to make the community stronger – and then build the values connections and relationships that facilitate real change. Louis is a great fundraiser,” said Karen Coltrane, EdVenture’s president and chief executive officer.
