September 8, 2016

COLUMBIA, SC – The YMCA of Columbia announces Kurt Stringfellow as the new Chief Executive Officer as of August 8, 2016.

Stringfellow has been serving as President/CEO of the Sarasota Family YMCA in Florida since 2012 and served as the President/CEO of the YMCA of Georgia’s Piedmont from 2001 to 2012. Stringfellow’s 29-year YMCA career started as an instructor at a Y in rural Moultrie, Ga. His family has roots in South Carolina and he says he is glad for the Stringfellows to return home.

“We are pleased to announce Kurt Stringfellow as our Y’s new leader,” said Bill Price, YMCA of Columbia Board President and Chief Volunteer Officer. “Kurt embraces the same values that the Y stands for: caring, honesty, respect, responsibility and faith. He comes to us after successful leadership of the Sarasota YMCA and his dedication to changing lives in spirit, mind and body certainly ensures a very bright future for our YMCA.”

There will be a Community Reception to welcome Stringfellow to Columbia on Thursday, September 15 at 4:30 p.m. at the Columbia Marriott.
