Fisher & Phillips bolsters Columbia office with new attorney

COLUMBIA, SC – Fisher & Phillips LLP announced the addition of attorney Sheila M. Bias to its Columbia office. She joined the firm on March 24.

Bias represents employers in a variety of labor and employment matters. Previously, she served as an associate attorney with the Litigation Practice Group for a Columbia law firm, where she practiced employment law, as well as research and appellate law.

“As we continue to grow our Columbia presence, we’re excited to add outstanding attorneys like Sheila,” said Stephen Mitchell, managing partner of the Columbia office of Fisher & Phillips. “Her passion and experience in employment law will greatly benefit our clients.”

Bias is a member of the South Carolina Bar and serves as a board member of both the South Carolina Women Lawyers Association and the South Carolina Defense Trial Attorneys’ Association.

Bias was the recipient of the 2014 and 2015 “Star of the Quarter” award from the South Carolina Bar’s Young Lawyers’ Division, as well as the 2014 Jonathan Jasper Wright Award from the University of South Carolina School of Law’s Black Law Students Association. Earlier in her career, she was a staff attorney at the South Carolina Supreme Court.

Bias graduated from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 2011 and also received her undergraduate degree from the University of South Carolina.
