Palmetto Health receives national accreditation for bariatrics

February 4, 2016

The Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP), in partnership with the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, issued the three-year “Comprehensive Center” designation to Palmetto Health’s Weight Management Center after a series of extensive evaluations. Ben Tribble, M.D., and Dalton Prickett, M.D., also received recognition as MBSAQIP verified surgeons for Palmetto Health Baptist.

To earn the MBSAQIP designation, the application process analyzes three areas: the surgeon, the program and the medical facility. This designation helps identify where patients can expect to receive safe and effective surgical treatment.

“This accreditation recognizes the quality care that our excellent bariatric team provides to help our patients live healthier lives. Our entire team is honored to receive this recognition for delivering high-quality care to our patients,” said Tribble.

The accreditation formally recognizes the commitment to providing and supporting quality improvement and patient safety efforts for metabolic and bariatric surgery patients. As an accredited program, the center has demonstrated it meets the needs of patients by providing multidisciplinary, high-quality, patient-centered care.

The Weight Management Center offers a full range of minimally invasive laparoscopic and single-incision surgical weight loss options, including gastric banding, gastric sleeve and gastric bypass.
