EdVenture’s Halloween Happening sets record attendance at museum

November 3, 2015

COLUMBIA, SC – EdVenture Children’s Museum welcomed a record breaking number of guests on Saturday, Oct. 31 during EdVenture’s Halloween Happening.  In only four hours, the museum   served 3,175 guests for an overall attendance of 4,184, which sets an all time high over the past 12 years!

Halloween Happening was the museum’s first event of its kind and provided a safe place for families to trick- or- treat on Halloween night.  Children were admitted for free and were able knock on 15 decorated doors for surprises and candy, participate in mad science and spooky crafts, and even smash pumpkins outside of the museum with a pumpkin pulverizer!

“We believe that if EdVenture is going to be a true community resource, we must do more events for the entire community, said Karen Coltrane, president and CEO at EdVenture. We saw an opportunity to be a safe place for Halloween and we are thrilled that the community agreed with us.”

More than 40 volunteers from local service organizations such as Student United Way, Midlands Tech, SAVVY and Carolina Service Council, donated their time to make this a wonderful experience for families in the Midlands.

Halloween Happening was sponsored by My Brother’s Keeper, City of Columbia and Andy Hanner.
