Commercial Real Estate Development Firm Focusing on Columbia
COLUMBIA, SC – Columbia-based commercial real estate professional Frank Cason has launched Cason Development Group, focusing on small to midsize development projects in South Carolina.
Passionate about real estate development in South Carolina and especially Columbia, Cason said, “I think we are on a growth path that is going to keep trending upward. Columbia is really starting to hit its stride. Frankly it started to bother me that the majority of new projects in Columbia were coming from out-of-town developers.”
A lifelong Columbia resident, Cason plans to leverage his knowledge of his hometown and home state and take a partnership approach to projects. “I do feel I’ve got a pretty good grasp of Columbia and I know whom to partner with to make vision become reality. I’m a partnership guy. I’ve been in 15 partnerships, and I like working with other people. I like leveraging the different skill sets inside of a partnership.”
Cason brings more than 10 years of experience to his new venture having worked as a senior brokerage associate for eight years with Colliers-Keenan, now Colliers International, and the last two and a half years with Cypress Real Estate Partners purchasing and developing retail projects valued at more than $30 million. He was involved in the relocation of Aflac Group Insurance to downtown Columbia and also facilitated the sale of the $21-million Tower at 1301 Gervais. While throughout his career Cason has been involved in investments, development, brokerage and asset management, his new venture initially will focus on creative development projects.
Cason has deep roots in Columbia’s business and development community. His great-grandfather Joseph Walker developed the Forest Hills neighborhood in the late 1920s. “Family business is in my DNA. I wanted to create my own thing, my own environment, my own culture. People are what are really important to me. Ultimately, my goal is to build around a committed team of solid people.”
Cason Development Group will focus on opportunities in the Columbia region, as well as regional projects driven by specific client needs. Cason is also working on a local investment fund focused on strategic acquisitions in South Carolina.
A Certified Commercial Investment Member, Cason is a past director of the South Carolina Association of REALTORS; a member of the Central Carolinas REALTORS Association, the National Association of REALTORS, the Urban Land Institute; and a graduate of Leadership Columbia and Leadership Legacy. He is an active member at First Presbyterian Church and has served in numerous leadership roles inside the church including the Board of Deacons, pastoral search committee and officer nominating committee.
