Midlands Technical College Commission Elects New Board Chair

COLUMBIA, SC – July 28, 2009 – Robert F. Dozier, Jr., has been elected Chair of the Midlands Technical College Commission. He previously served as Commission Chair from July 2005 to June 2007, and he has served on the MTC Commission since June 1998. Dozier represents Richland County on the college’s 12 member board of trustees.
Dozier is the COO/Managing Director of Homeowners Mortgage – the mortgage arm of CoastalStates Bank. Dozier, a 1990 political science graduate of the University of South Carolina, has served as Chairman of the Richland District II Board of Trustees and Chairman of the Midlands Education and Business Alliance. Dozier is past Chair of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta.

The Midlands Technical College Commission, the college’s board of trustees, is comprised of 12 community leaders who are appointed by the governor upon the recommendation of their respective legislative delegations. MTC enrolls more than 16,000 credit students annually, and is the largest provider of transfer students to the University of South Carolina.
