Cayce Historical Museum Announces Plans to Celebrate and Remember Cayce’s Unique Niche  in the History of NASCAR Racing

CAYCE, SC – March 13, 2009 – Plans are well underway for a festival to be held at the old Columbia speedway in Cayce, South Carolina.  www.Racersreunion.com will present the First Annual Love Chevrolet Columbia Speedway Spring Festival on Saturday, April 25.  Admission to this one-day event is free and will be held at the speedway location on Highway 321 in Cayce.  For three decades, this local half-mile oval dirt track became the source for much of stock car racing’s rich history until it closed in 1978.

In order to generate additional interest in this event, the Cayce Historical Museum will have a special one-month display to celebrate and promote this important upcoming event. This exhibit will begin on April 1 and run through April 30 and will subsequently become a part of the museum’s permanent ongoing exhibits.

The museum is located just minutes from the old Columbia Speedway in the Cayce City Hall complex, 1800 12th Street and is open:

Tuesday – Friday                 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM and
Saturdays and Sundays        2:00 PM to 5:00 PM

The public is cordially invited to come by and enjoy the memorabilia and to reminisce and celebrate their memories of stock car racing in Cayce.
