Harmony Care Hospice Welcomes Oscar Lovelace, Jr. MD as Associate Medical Director
January 29, 2009COLUMBIA, SC – January 29, 2009 – Dr. Oscar F. Lovelace, Jr. has joined the medical staff of Harmony Care Hospice as Associate Medical Director.

A seasoned health care professional, Dr. Lovelace brings an impressive background to Harmony Care Hospice. Over the span of 20 years in private practice as a rural family physician, Lovelace has been honored with the Wellspring Physician of the Year award; selected to be a member of the nationally recognized Best Doctors; and named S.C. DHEC Physician of the Year for the Midlands Health District. Additionally, Lovelace was appointed by Governor Mark Sanford to co-chair the Governor’s Health Care Task Force. His work with this group inspired him to become a gubernatorial candidate in the 2006 Republican primary.
Throughout his career, Dr. Lovelace has been the recipient of many esteemed honors and awards. Lovelace Family Medicine was recognized as Rural Practice of the Year by the State Office of Rural Health and named Outstanding Teaching Practice of the Year for the South Carolina Area Health Education Consortium.
Dr. Lovelace received his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. Following completion of his three-year Family Medicine residency at the University of Virginia, Lovelace moved to Prosperity where he founded Lovelace Family Medicine in 1988.
Born and raised in Columbia, Lovelace attended Keenan High School. He graduated with honors from Clemson University, where he was student body president and winner of the Algernon Sidney Sullivan Award for public service and the Norris Medal for overall excellence.
