McKellar to head US Corrections Team in Afghanistan

COLUMBIA, SC – June 10, 2008 – Ken McKellar has been selected to head the US Corrections Advisory Team in Afghanistan, reporting to Department of State.   As chief for the Corrections System Support Program, he will be responsible to supervise the corrections program which advises mentors and trains the Afghanistan Corrections Prison Directorate within the Ministry of Justice.

McKellar has 35 years of experience in corrections consulting and operations. He most recently served as senior consultant for Carter Goble Lee on Corrections Master Plans for several states and benchmarking analysis and training in Northern Ireland. Prior to joining CGL, he served as Senior Corrections Advisor for the Department of Justice, Prison Program at the US Embassy in Baghdad, Iraq.  Other international experience includes volunteering with Kairos Prison Ministry in the United States, England and South Africa.
McKellar retired from a career with the South Carolina Department of Corrections, as central office administrator and institutional warden. .
