BlueCross Names New Director of Large Accounts for Columbia, Florence
December 14, 2007COLUMBIA, SC – December 13, 2007 – BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina announced today that David Gwin has joined its large accounts unit as director of the Columbia regional office.
In his new position, Gwin is responsible for new sales and retention of groups with 50 or more employees in Columbia, Florence and surrounding areas. Gwin’s previous experience in the insurance industry includes 10 years with BlueChoice® HealthPlan of South Carolina, where he was responsible for account retention and development for groups of all sizes.
Gwin said he is proud of BlueCross’ efforts to provide resources aimed at helping members make informed decisions about health care. The company recently unveiled its My Health Toolkit on its Web site, which provides access to a health library and allows members to compare health plans and hospitals, estimate treatment and drug costs, view their claims history, and perform many other functions.
“Our goal is to continue to provide members as many tools as possible so that they can actively research options when making health care buying decisions,” Gwin said. “We are encouraging members to become educated consumers of health care.”
Gwin, a native of Birmingham, Ala., received his bachelor’s degree from Samford University in 1983.
