LimRic Plumbing, Heating & Air presents $500 to The Bread Basket and two $500 grants to go toward Ronald McDonald House Charities Plane Pull event

LimRic Plumbing, Heating & Air’s Give Back Grant recipients for March are The Bread Basket and Ronald McDonald House Charities. The Give Back Grant is a monthly donation of $500 to local nonprofit organizations. The $500 checks were presented to these two 501(c)(3) nonprofits today, Wednesday, March 27, at LimRic Plumbing, Heating & Air’s office, 4546 Dorchester Rd, North Charleston, SC 29405.
In addition to the $500 check, LimRic has added a new initiative to give back to the community this year. Each month, LimRic staff vote for one local nonprofit with which to volunteer. For March’s volunteer opportunity, LimRic is sending two teams, Just Plane Cool and Just Cool Your Jets, to participate in the first annual Ronald McDonald House Plane Pull and granted $500 per team. Along with the Give Back Grants, LimRic has begun to raise additional funds for the Plane Pull by asking customers to simply round up to the next dollar while performing in-home maintenance visits. Customers can donate more if they choose. All the proceeds raised will support the families staying at the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Charleston.

The Bread Basket, a part of Cathedral of Praise Church off Ashley Phosphate Road, partners with Publix, Pepperidge Farm Bakeries, The Lowcountry Food Bank, and other local organizations to provide bread and other grocery items to community members who are struggling financially and to other organizations that aid the needy. They serve approximately 200 families per week and distribute food to several local ministries and service organizations.
The Ronald McDonald House offers a “Home-away-from-home” where families stay while their children undergo extensive medical treatment. The House is able to serve 32 families every night and while at the House parents and children lead a life as normal as possible during their traumatic times without the financial burden of costly hotel and travel expenses. The House offers these families’ comfortable beds, hot meals, a caring staff, and a four-legged friend, Gardy, all just steps from the hospital.
The RMHC Plane Pull event is a competition in which participating teams compete to pull an F-18 Hornet weighing over 18,000 pounds in the shortest amount of time over 50 feet. Teams will face elimination rounds until the final playoff. Each team will receive event T-Shirts and a team sign for photo opportunities. Medals will be awarded for several categories including highest fundraising, best team name, fastest team, slowest team, most spirited, and “What were you thinking.”
The LimRic Give Back Grant was initiated in February 2016 and demonstrates “LimRic Pride” by donating $500 to two 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations every month. David Miles, owner of LimRic Plumbing, Heating & Air, said, “LimRic Pride is the backbone of our company and it emphasizes the community spirit. We are humbled to give to charities that offer support for people in need.”
One grant winner is selected by LimRic staff and the other is chosen from Facebook nominations and voting. Individuals are invited to nominate their favorite charity on LimRic’s Facebook page. Then each month several charities are selected to take part in a two-week long voting process on the LimRic Facebook page. The charity with the most votes at the end of the voting period receives a $500 check from LimRic.
