Ronald McDonald House Charities of Charleston announces two new board members

The Ronald McDonald House Charities of Charleston announces the appointment of two new members of its Board of Directors.

Joining the Board of Directors are Patti Hart and Tom Butz.

Patti Hart is the Associate Chief Nursing Officer for inpatient and ambulatory services at Medical University of South Carolina and serves on the Executive Planning Committee. She came to Charleston in July, 2016 following 29 years in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Her background in nursing has been primarily in pediatrics accounting for twenty five of her twenty nine years.  She was the Executive Sponsor building a new Children’s Hospital as the Director of Nursing for Women’s and Children’s Services at Penn State Hershey Medical Center.

Ms. Hart has a passion giving back in her community.  Ronald McDonald House Charities has been near to her heart as she served on the Search Committee for the Executive Director, Marketing committee, and Care Mobile subcommittee of the Hersey Ronald McDonald House.  She was in her third year as a board member at the Hershey House when she moved to Charleston.  Patti served during the building of a new addition to the original House in Hershey, Pennsylvania.

Committed to his community, Tom Butz has served on the Boards of Directors of a school, a church, a hospital, a performing arts center, and a philanthropic organization.  Mr. Butz and his wife support charities nationwide, but especially here in their home of Charleston, both personally and through the Butz family foundation.

Tom Butz, from Germantown, Maryland, received a BS in Economics from the University of Richmond.   He started his MBA at the George Washington University and transferred full time to the University of Florida to complete his MBA with concentrations in both Finance and Marketing. Tom works with his three brothers in a variety of businesses, including renewable energy, biodiesel refinery, solar installations, real estate and consulting.

The Ronald McDonald House Charities of Charleston is a 32 bedroom home where families stay while their children undergo extensive medical treatment. Within our walls, parents and children lead a life as normal as possible during their traumatic times without the financial burden of costly hotel, food and travel expenses.

The mission of RMHC Charleston is to create compassionate environments and programs that provide families the best chance of success in caring for their child with complex medical needs.
