Iconic King and Calhoun Redevelopment 100% leased, NAI Avant represents landlord in Downtown Charleston, SC

CHARLESTON, SC – NAI Avant is pleased to announce that the King and Calhoun redevelopment is 100% leased with three tenants open for business and two more set to open in the coming months. Thomas Boulware, VI, CCIM and Dexter Rumsey, IV, both senior brokers with NAI Avant’s Charleston office, represented the landlord, King and Calhoun, LLC, in leasing all available retail space in the premier redevelopment located on one of the peninsula’s most coveted corners. Millennium Music was the former tenant in the long vacant building located in downtown Charleston directly across from Marion Square at the corner of King Street and Calhoun Street.

The anchor tenant, Walgreen’s Drugstore, occupies ±11,000 square feet of ground-level space at the main corner of the redevelopment.  The neighborhood market style store opened their doors to the public recently with an eclectic layout to reflect downtown Charleston’s style.

Chipotle Mexican Grill, the fast-casual Southwester-style dining chain opened to an enthusiastic crowd in March of this year and occupies the adjacent ±3,079 square feet of space fronting King Street. Alan Freeman with The Shopping Center Group represented the tenant in this transaction.

Carolina Ale House restaurant also recently opened its doors. The Raleigh-based chain currently occupies ±11,644 square feet, including a rooftop bar area. Jefferson Dill with J.R. Dill and Associates, LLC, represented the tenant in this transaction. Carolina Ale House now offers downtown Charleston a roof top venue with a sports bar atmosphere.

MOD Pizza has signed a lease and will occupy ±2,345 square feet. This will be the restaurant’s first South Carolina location. Dan Mullin with Atlantic Retail represented the tenant in this transaction.

Panera Bread will also open in the coming months. The well-known restaurant will occupy ±3,235 square feet. Dan Mullin with Atlantic Retail represented the tenant in this transaction as well. Southern Bread, LLC, is the owner/operator of seventeen Panera Bread locations in South Carolina and Georgia, with an additional four more restaurants to be added by the end of 2015.
