DEW offers businesses in disaster areas potential tax extension

October 12, 2015

COLUMBIA, SC – The S.C. Department of Employment and Workforce (DEW) is offering businesses impacted by the flooding in counties under the Presidential disaster declaration a potential extension to pay their third quarter unemployment taxes.

The payments are currently due by Nov. 15. If a business is in one of the counties under the Presidential disaster declaration, it could receive a reasonable extension, as permitted by law.  Please contact DEW at [email protected]to learn more and determine if an extension is the appropriate solution for your business.

“If your business has been affected by this storm, we want to work with you as much as possible during these trying days,” said Cheryl Stanton, executive director of the S.C. Department of Employment and Workforce.

The counties currently included in the declaration are Berkeley, Calhoun, Charleston, Clarendon, Darlington, Dorchester, Florence, Georgetown, Horry, Kershaw, Lee, Lexington, Orangeburg, Richland, Sumter and Williamsburg. Other counties may be added at a later date.
