SOL Partners with East Cooper Meals on Wheels to Give Back Through Kitchen Karma Program

SOL Southwest Kitchen & Tequila Bar will raise money for the meal delivery charity through the end of August

MOUNT PLEASANT, SC – From Monday, July 20 through the end of August, SOL Southwest Kitchen & Tequila Bar will be partnering with local charity organization East Cooper Meals on Wheels to raise money through the restaurant’s Kitchen Karma program.  East Cooper Meals on Wheels serves nutritious meals to local residents who are homebound or unable to provide their own meals. With the help of over 400 volunteers, the organization plans to deliver over 135,000 meals this year at no cost to the recipients.

“At SOL, we are passionate about food, so we’re pleased to be able to partner with East Cooper Meals on Wheels to help the organization provide local homebound residents with fresh, nutritious meals,” said David Clark, owner of SOL.

Through its Kitchen Karma program, SOL partners with a local charity organization for a period of about five to eight weeks, and donates $1 from every featured Kitchen Karma menu item sold in that time period to the partnering charity. The featured items for the East Cooper Meals on Wheels partnership include the new Carne Asada Quesadilla and the Fresh Pineapple Margarita. The quesadilla is made with marinated flank steak, charred jalapenos, roasted red peppers, caramelized onions, and manchego cheese, while the featured margarita includes Milagro Reposado Tequila, grilled pineapple, fresh juice sour mix, and a chipotle salt rim.

Before partnering with East Cooper Meals on Wheels, SOL’s most recent Kitchen Karma partnership was with Lowcountry Aquatic Project Swimming (LAPS), an organization that provides underprivileged local children with the opportunity to learn how to swim for free. From late April through June, SOL raised a total of $1,408 for LAPS. Since its inception in late 2013, SOL’s Kitchen Karma program has raised nearly $15,000 for local charities.
