SCRA Greg Clark to Keynote National Innovation and IP Business Summit

April 24, 2015

Annual Event to Take Place on Isle of Palms Next Week

SUMMERVILLE, SC – SCRA Technology Ventures announced that Greg Clark, Vice President of Emerging Technologies, will serve as a keynote speaker at this year’s National Innovation and Intellectual Property (IP) Summit. The annual summit, hosted by the Faber Entrepreneurship Center of the Moore School Business at the University of South Carolina, focuses on the strategic value of IP in industry, explores current trends and examines how best to leverage IP for success in both large and small enterprises. The event will be held April 29-May 1 at the Wild Dunes Resort on the Isle of Palms, S.C.

Clark will address SCRA’s contribution to the growth of innovation and commercialization in South Carolina and SCRA’s Emerging Technologies initiative, which seeks to fund, develop and commercialize early-stage technologies from university, industry and federal sources.

“As we continue to support the growth of high impact companies in South Carolina, leveraging intellectual property as a strategic asset is a key component,” said Clark. “We have seen how valuable IP is for start-up companies in our SC Launch program as well as in our own ventures. A more comprehensive understanding of the IP landscape, paired with the knowledge of how best to advance IP, will significantly improve South Carolina’s high-tech economy.”

“At SCRA, we foster innovation in South Carolina. A large part of this comes from our ability to commercialize research into real-world applications,” said SCRA CEO Bill Mahoney. “We are delighted to be a part of this event that examines not just why, but how innovative IP can make meaningful economic returns for entities across South Carolina.”

Additional speakers at this year’s summit include representatives from Boeing, Intel, Philips, IBM Watson and Disney Consumer Products.
