MYRTLE BEACH, SC – July 25, 2012 – Myrtle Beach International Airport’s (MYR) average air fares are the lowest in South Carolina according to US Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS).

“Our primary focus is customer service and keeping airport costs low as we transition into the new terminal.  We continue to work with our existing carriers for additional service and capacity, as well as, exploring all available opportunities,” stated Mike La Pier, Director of Airports.

MYR is the only SC airport having average air fares less than the national average of $364.   For the fourth consecutive year MYR has had the lowest average airfare in South Carolina.

Average air fares are based on domestic itinerary fares, round-trip or one-way for which no return is purchased. Fares are based on the total ticket value which consists of the price charged by the airlines plus any additional taxes and fees levied by an outside entity at the time of purchase.
