Congressman Clyburn Announces Summer Job Opportunities for Youth
May 9, 2012COLUMBIA, SC – May 9, 2012 – Sixth District Congressman and AssistantDemocratic Leader James E. Clyburn announced the U.S. Department ofLabor has launched an online tool to help youth access summer jobs intheir local community. The Summer Jobs+ Bank is a website that includespostings of nearly 300,000 job opportunities and internships across thecountry that are open to young people.
“I have been a vocal advocate for the need to help young people findsummer employment,” Congressman Clyburn said. “I applaud the LaborDepartment’s effort to make employment opportunities readily accessibleto young people. This website is a terrific resource to match youthwith jobs and internships in their area.”
The Summer Jobs+ Bank can be found at https://webapps.dol.gov/summerjobs. The search tool allows young people to enter their city or state andfind jobs, internships and other employment opportunities this summerand year round.
The U.S. Department of Labor worked with job posting websites andemployers across the country to create the Summer Jobs+ Bank to provide asingle-stop resource for young job seekers to go online and search forjobs and other employment opportunities in their communities. A sampleof available offerings include: an entry-level sales job with VectorMarketing in Columbia, an executive internship with Target in North, aculinary internship with the Omni in Hilton Head, and an accountinginternship with URS Corporation in Aiken.
