Marshall Taylor to become new DHEC General Counsel

COLUMBIA, SC – May 3, 2012 – The South Carolina Department of Healthand Environmental Control (DHEC) announced that W. Marshall Taylor, Jr.will become the agency’s new General Counsel. 

As General Counsel, Taylor will oversee DHEC’s legal team and Freedomof Information Office, as well as advise the Board.  He will report toDirector, Catherine Templeton and will also have a seat on DHEC’sexecutive management team. His appointment is effective May 14, 2012.
 
Marshall brings with him a valuable combination of legal,environmental, and business experience, which aligns well with ourstrategic goals, said Templeton. We are excited to have him on boardand look forward to leveraging both his legal expertise, his backgroundwith the regulated community, and experience as a customer of DHEC.
 
Taylor comes to DHEC from McNair Law Firm, P.A. where he is aShareholder in the Firm’s Administrative & Regulatory section.  Hispractice at McNair has been primarily focused in the area ofenvironmental law.  He also serves as Chairman of the Firm’s AssociateDevelopment Committee.  Prior to attending law school and joiningMcNair, Taylor worked for Westinghouse Savannah River Company where heserved in various engineering and management capacities at the SavannahRiver Site near Aiken, South Carolina.
