SCE&G to Donate $1 to Palmetto Clean Energy for Every Customer Who Signs Up for Paperless Billing in April

CAYCE, SC – April 10, 2012 – Palmetto Clean Energy (PaCE), a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting renewable energy generation, and SCE&G have teamed up to raise awareness about renewable energy in South Carolina. During the month of April, SCE&G will contribute $1 to PaCE for every customer who signs up for paperless billing, up to a total of $2,500.
“Together with SCE&G, we’re celebrating Earth Month and helping bring awareness to the available renewable energy sources in South Carolina,” said Bob Long , chairman of the PaCE board of directors. “By simply signing up for the paperless billing option, SCE&G customers can help support the development of renewable energy resources in our state. It’s easy to do and environmentally friendly, too.”
As of the end of February, more than 176,000 SCE&G customers – approximately 28 percent – have signed up for paperless billing, a number that is twice the national average of 12.7 percent among other utilities.
With paperless billing, customers receive an e-mail from SCE&G when their current bill is available to view online. Customers simply sign in to their secure account online, view the bill electronically and choose how to pay it. SCE&G offers several payment options, including ePay and eDraft options, which enable customers to pay bills online. Customers also have online access to up to 24 months of past bills, as well as to payment history. To learn more and sign up, visit www.sceg.com/paperless.
To further support renewable energy in South Carolina, SCE&G electric customers can voluntarily elect to contribute to the development of renewable energy in the state by adding as little as $4 to their monthly electric bill. Options include registering online at www.palmettocleanenergy.org, or by calling 1-800-251-7234. Customers may also make a one-time contribution for any amount made payable to Palmetto Clean Energy and mailed to PaCE, Mail Code PCE, 220 Operation Way, Cayce, S.C. 29033-3701. All contributions are tax-deductible.
