Colliers International Retained to Market Jafza International Site in Orangeburg County

CHARLESTON, SC – December 14, 2011 – Jafza International has retainedColliers International to market its 1,322-acre logistics park inOrangeburg, South Carolina. The park, which is situated between I-95and I-26, was purchased by Jafza in 2007 and master-planned for futuredevelopment with a total private investment anticipated at more than $1billion.
Hagood Morrison, SIOR, will lead a Colliers team to market the park for sale.
On December 13, 2011, South Carolina Congressman James E. Clyburnannounced that Orangeburg County received a $12.1 million dollar grantthat will create a southbound access ramp from US Highway 301 toInterstate 95, as well as extend US Highway 301 to the Jafza site. Theproject is expected to cost $26 million in total, with additional fundscoming from a combination of sources including a previously securedfederal grant, funds from the State of South Carolina and OrangeburgCounty.
The first 16,000-square-foot building was completed in April 2011,and houses tenants Palmetto Training Inc. and Arc Labs. “Jafza’sdecision to market the remaining acreage in the logistics park for saleis a unique opportunity for a forward looking investor to purchase alargely entitled, strategically located site,” said Morrison. Orangeburg County will also be heavily involved in recruitment effortsto find a purchaser.
Hagood is a Senior Vice President and Director of IndustrialBrokerage of Colliers’ Charleston office. He was recently selected tohead the Colliers National Logistics and Transportation Group, and wasawarded the Largest Industrials Deal Award for the SIOR CarolinasChapter in 2010.
Hagood, a retired Navy Reserve Captain, currently sits on the Boardof Directors for the South Carolina State Ports Authority/South CarolinaInternational Trade Conference. He is also former Chair of CharlestonCounty’s Board of Assessment Appeals and a previous member of CharlestonCounty Aviation Authority.
