Davis named manager of Santee Cooper’s Jefferies Generating Station
August 4, 2011MONCKS CORNER, SC – August 4, 2011 – Mike Davis, superintendent of generation technical services, has been named plant manager at Santee Cooper’s Jefferies Generating Station, taking the helm from Mike Lankford, who has been named manager of generation services, a new position at the state-owned utility.
Davis and Lankford will report to Phil Pierce, senior vice president of generation. They begin their new positions Aug. 6.
“These veteran employees bring a wealth of know-how and institutional knowledge to these positions that are critical to our mission of producing low-cost, reliable power for our customers,” Pierce said.
Davis, who joined Santee Cooper in 1979, will also be responsible for the Berkeley Green Power Generating Station, which came online in March, and combustion-turbine generating units on Hilton Head Island.
A registered professional engineer, Davis (pictured left) holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of South Carolina. His previous positions include serving as results supervisor at the Cross Generating Station, superintendent of technical services in planning and power supply and a principal engineer in performance and environmental services.
Lankford, who has been with Santee Cooper since 1978, will manage the generation services group, which provides technical and administrative support to Santee Cooper’s 15 generating facilities located statewide.
He is a graduate of Clemson University with a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering and also holds a master’s degree in business and management from Webster University. Lankford’s previous positions at Santee Cooper included superintendent of
technical services at Cross Station and results supervisor and an engineer position at the Winyah Generating Station.
