Chapin’s new Downtown Farmer’s Market returns Saturday

May 31, 2017

The Chapin Downtown Farmer’s Market returns this Saturday, June 3 at 8:30 am in the 100 block of Clark Street in downtown Chapin. This new community offering provides residents and visitors with a healthy and fun shopping alternative with local growers and artisans selling fresh produce, dairy products and meats as well as handmade items like candles, jewelry, soaps and woodcrafts. The theme for the June market is Dad’s Delight! Which encourages people to find a variety of gifts for Father’s Day while they shop at the market.

Sponsored by the Town of Chapin and Farm Bureau Insurance, and in cooperation with a grant from Eat Smart, Move More Lexington County, the downtown market features a variety of local vendors and an interactive health and wellness demonstration designed to promote healthy eating and active lifestyles. Chef Sheila Veach with Small Packages Catering will provide a 30-minute grilling demonstration, sharing tips and recipes for a variety of fruits, vegetables, breads and meats that are tasty when cooked on the grill. The demo begins at 9:30 am in the Clark Street parking lot directly behind the American Legion Post.
Local musician Curt London will return as the featured entertainer with his great acoustic sets. And Chapin Arbor Day will be the featured non-profit for the market.

This week’s vendors include Big Belly Farm, Bowers Farms, Mt. Horeb’s Community Garden, Cross Creek Acres, Lever Farms, The Classy Cruet, Agu’s All Natural Salve, Rosie’s Toffee, Ma’Lily, Sweet Relief Bakery, Dr. Al Coston, Jr. with Family Practice of Chiropractic, Belle Vie Home, Pappy D’s Peanuts, The Coffee Shelf, and A Through Z Designs. The Freedom and Hope Foundation will be selling Boston butts as well. The market runs 8:30 – 11 am on the first Saturdays of the month through October.
