Lizard’s Thicket plans to celebrate 40th anniversary by giving back this fall

Lizard’s Thicket announces plans to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the opening of the business’s first location of its family-owned and operated restaurants. In celebration of this milestone, the restaurant plans to give back to non-profit organizations and other worthwhile causes in the community. Lizard’s Thicket will kick off the celebration, which will last through the Fall of 2017, on Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2017.

Lizard’s Thicket Celebrates 40 Years:

• Beginning Sept. 27, Lizard’s Thicket will offer 40th anniversary coffee mugs for $5 at each location. Proceeds of sales of these mugs will go to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Columbia, Sharing God’s Love and Palmetto Place Children’s Shelter. Coffee is free with the purchase of mugs, which are available while supplies last. Customers can try Lizard’s Thicket’s brand new Columbian coffee blend, which is locally roasted in the Carolinas. This blend, made exclusively for Lizard’s Thicket, uses the finest 100 percent Arabica coffee beans and makes a rich, smooth cup of coffee.
• Lizard’s Thicket is also hosting 40 different school percent nights this fall in honor of the 40th anniversary. Schools have signed up to participate, and on their night at the restaurant each school will receive a portion of the proceeds of sales from that evening.
• During Restaurant Week, Oct. 12-22, desserts at all locations will be .99.
• The Williams family, who owns and operates Lizard’s Thicket, is offering a scholarship to a University of South Carolina College of Hotel, Retail and Sport Management student. Stay tuned as Lizard’s Thicket announces more details about this scholarship.
• This fall, the newly renovated Elmwood Lizard’s Thicket (818 Elmwood Avenue) will re-open with greater parking, a fresh interior and exterior and a state-of-the-art kitchen.

History of Lizard’s Thicket
Bob and Anna Williams opened their first restaurant on Broad River Road in 1977 with a desire to serve simple, comforting dishes at reasonable prices. Forty years later, Lizard’s Thicket is still owned and operated by the Williams family. Third generation Williams family members also work at Lizard’s Thicket. Today, in its 15 restaurants, Lizard’s Thicket is proud to have more than 700 employees and serve more than 12,000 diners at breakfast, lunch and supper each day. The restaurant is known for its affordable, fast country cooking and great service.
