Main Street District lands boutique grocery store

March 6, 2017

City Center Partnership, in conjunction with the City of Columbia’s Office of Business Opportunities, is pleased to announce a boutique grocery store will open later this summer. Amye Rushing, a local Columbia attorney, will open a 3,000 square foot store called Local Yocal at 1712 Main Street.

Rushing says, “Local Yocal will be an upscale version of a neighborhood market. We will offer local produce, meats, cheeses, a fresh pressed juice bar, sandwiches and salads to go, along with many other grocery items. We are very thankful to the City of Columbia’s Office of Business Opportunities and City Center Partnership for helping us through this process.”

“We are super excited about Local Yocal opening in the Main Street District,” said Matt Kennell, president and CEO of City Center Partnership. “This upscale grocery concept will bring an important amenity to the residents and businesses located in the Main Street District.”

“The City has been working to develop Main Street for years, and we are excited to have this addition to the district,” said Tina Herbert, Director of the Office of Business Opportunities, City of Columbia. “This project is another great example of how public funds can help draw private investment in needed areas.”
